Thoughts After 5 years of Trial and Error
I wanted to share a thought I have regarding my studio as slide into 2025. I originally wrote five learnings that were marketing and business related as opposed to the practice of creating. I find these aspects to be obnoxious and disheartening distractions from creating work in reverence to nature… but it’s the reality of trying to run a small studio business in a capitalist framework. I hope my work continues to challenge these destructive ideologies (for more on this topic, look out for the upcoming issue of A More-than-Human Society, which is about to launch).
So, instead of a list I leave you with the most important learning to stay grounded:

The Key Learning
- Always come back to the center of all things/ the absolute as a guide and as inspiration for creating. AKA don’t create to pump out “content”, create because you genuinely feel called to do so.
Goodbye Beloved Dino Supervisors
In the last four months, we have said goodbye to the bodies of three of our loved avian family members; Aspen, Whimsey and Opa. Right now, just Rainford and I are holding it down in the studio. I’ll be working on a dino supervisor post to honor all the loved adopted parakeets/budgies who have been part of this studio journey with me. Much love.
